EHS faculty lead projects that strengthen interdisciplinary learning
Two teams of faculty from ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ’s College of Education, Health, and Society recently showcased projects supported by EHS Interprofessional Grants. The first project, led by Nancy Parkinson (KNH) and Racheal Banda (TCE) with co-principal investigators Eric Brooks and Bryn Beeder (both KNH), brought dietetic, nutrition, and middle childhood education ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs together for an event in McGuffey. Students collaborated across disciplines to create and share infographics that highlighted ways to support children’s health and learning.
A second project team featuring Nichole Carr (FSW), Cara Dillon (EDP), and Briana von Mizener (EDP) organized the EHS Interprofessional Symposium. This hands-on event engaged ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs from teaching, school psychology, and social work in interdisciplinary problem-solving focused on supporting the social-emotional development of school-aged children. Faculty facilitators guided participants through scenario activities that emphasized collaboration, shared decision-making, and professional communication.
The projects reflect the College of Education, Health, and Society’s commitment to interdisciplinary work across all our programs to help ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs gain a holistic understanding of the communities they will serve.
