Four Miami ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓÆµs named Gilman Scholars
Four ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓÆµ ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓÆµs have been awarded a collective $13,500 from the to help fund their study abroad experiences.
Miami’s Gilman Scholarship winners are among 1,600 recipients selected from a record pool of 7,700 applicants received during the fall application cycle.
Gilman recipients are American undergraduate ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓÆµs attending more than 500 U.S. colleges and represent all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. On average, 65 percent of Gilman recipients are from rural areas and small towns across America, and half are first-generation college or university ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓÆµs.
Since the program’s inception in 2001, more than 44,000 Gilman scholars have studied or interned in more than 170 countries around the globe. Supported by the U.S. Congress, the Gilman Scholarship is an initiative of the and is administered by the .
More than 100 Miami ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓÆµs have received Gilman Scholarships to support study abroad experiences in the past decade.
