Undergraduate Students

Students are admitted directly into the major they select and begin taking SLAM courses in their first semester. There are no special admission requirements.

Graduate Students

The Sport Leadership and Management program is a research-based study of sport from psychological, sociocultural, developmental, and managerial perspectives. Students gain the knowledge and skills needed to become competent, transformative leaders in the sport industry.

The program prepares ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵs for leadership roles in sport psychology, sport management, higher education, coaching, athletic administration, ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ-athlete development, and mental performance consulting through required coursework, independent experiences in research, teaching, and consulting, coaching, and administrative internships.

The following undergraduate scholarships are sponsored by the SLAM Department, thanks to generous gifts from donors and are reserved for current sophomore, junior, or first semester seniors:

Margaret E. Phillips Grant

• SLAM major
• Female ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ with sophomore, junior, or first semester senior standing
• Demonstration of financial need
• Involved in campus activities
• Minimum GPA: 3.0 cumulative

Hays Sports Study Scholarship

• Sport Studies/Sport Leadership and Management major
• Junior or Senior standing
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 in designated sport studies courses
• Must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of designated sport studies coursework
